Caffeinated Randomness: Fall coffee...2 ways...

So as not to disappoint those of you dearies who love the random coffee pictures...here's a Fall coffee pic...lovely.  Makes you think of a calm moment outside amid the crunchy leaves...sipping some hot Java while your delightful angelic children romp in the glorious hues of autumn.  *sigh*

Yeah, well....my Fall coffee today actually looks like this....
...my favorite red chofa (chair/sofa), Psalm 46:10 mug of coffee...my Bible reading (gotta say I'm not really loving Lamentations), mending (little holes in little things)...and the current bio enroute reading (spoken from the heart)....

So, how do you do your Fall coffee!?  If it's like the ideal above...tell me gently!  I think I'm going to buy a second little rake...so they can share in the joy of raking this weekend.  Hehehe!

Coffee kisses to ya'll today!!

MORE Thoughts on Light in Darkness....

I had some more thoughts on being a light in darkness....just so you are following the analogy here...light is equal to salvation and darkness is equal to sin.

While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light.  John 12:36

Sinners enjoy darkness because they think they can hide their sin.  They don't tend to enjoy spending time with those in the light either...because they will reveal or expose that sin they're trying to hide.

God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.  1 Jn 1:5-7

When you are playing in the darkness....it effects your mood (fear, sadness, etc.) and your eyes grow accustomed to it so that you don't clearly view it as sinful...well, until the comparison of true LIGHT is shared!

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth)  Eph. 5:8-9

When we attempt to live in the darkness...we stumble and hurt ourselves.  Things aren't where we expect them to be, we trip and fall into even darker darkness.

Give glory to the LORD your God before it is too late. Acknowledge him before he brings darkness upon you, causing you to stumble and fall on the darkening mountains. For then, when you look for light, you will find only terrible darkness and gloom.  Jer. 13:16

Word FILLED Wednesday: My Joyfilled Light!

For those of you who "know" me...this will come as no surprise.  But, I've had two songs running through my head for DAYS...and thought I'd share the fun.  The first is pretty familiar...This little light of mine.  I'm gonna let it shine.  This little light of mine. I'm gonna let it shine.  Let it shine....let it shine...let it shine!

The other...I can't find a recording of...and I think it was in our church hymnal growing up.  I'm notorious for remembering parts of songs and not being able to figure out the title...and then calling up my parents and singing bits and pieces so they can help me out.  Ask them...really!  Between that and cooking questions they wonder if I call for any other reasons.  Anyhew...it goes like this...It is joy unspeakable and full of glory, fully of glory, full of glory.  It is joy unspeakable and full of glory...oh the half has never yet been told!

And how does that connect to your WFW post, dear, flighty Bobbi you are asking?  Well, I'll try to tell you!

I was asked this week...Do people around see the light of Jesus in you?  How do you appropriate His power and peace?

So, there are areas where I need to clean up my dusty lantern.  I really thought about it this week...in our crazy economy, dark world, tumultuous politics...I want to stand firm in the knowledge that He is the (Isaiah 9) Prince of Peace, Everlasting Father....

Wonderful Counselor....and there's where I got the "joy unspeakable" song stuck in my head.  He was able to work miracles and do marvelous and astounding things.  Judges 13...the angel who visits Samson's parents says his name is "Wonderful"...beyond understanding, full of glory, joy unspeakable.  Giving supernatural counsel.  WOW!

So, often I forget the source of my LIGHT is GOD!  I need to go to the WORD...before I seek out the opinion of friends, family, or books.  I need to spend more time in prayer...to be connected with Him...and receiving His Wonderful Counsel...

So, is your little light shining?  Does it need some dusting off??

Do people see your JOY?  Does it point to HIS glory??

"Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible (unspeakable) and filled with glory," 1 Peter 1:8

Memory Monday: Bringing It Back!

I used to faithfully participate in Memory Monday...on a blog that rarely hosts it anymore...and I stopped memorizing as much scripture when I stopped blogging about it.  I realized that the only scripture I was memorizing were the little verses my SS and children were memorizing.  I'm not knocking that...something is better than nothing. But then...

I recently saw this youtube (below) by John Piper...and it convicted and inspired me to bring Memory Monday back to my blog.  Well, that's not quite true...it reminded me of the importance...the VITAL importance of scripture memorization...and I figured if blogging about it would keep me accountable...then I'd do that too!

If anyone wants to join me...I'd love to hear what you are "hiding in your heart."  I'm beginning with Isaiah 55.  I want to memorize the entire chapter.  A few verses at a time...We'll see how many I have for next week.  I'll attempt to Vlog...something I have never done before.  That way there is no hiding...either it's in my brain/heart...or it's not!

Caffeinated Randomness: Dopey Chickens, Delegations and Downshifting!

Well, today...I'm going to enforce a SLOW DOWN on myself.  I've been running around like a crazy chicken all week.  Not exactly with my head off...but clucking and squawking a lot.  HA!  So, a calming cup of chai or cinnamon coffee....*sigh...

Yeah, I'm helping a friend with the Fall Festival at our church this weekend.  The look on her face was truly funny the other day when I told her to delegate some of the stressful stuffs.  She did...but the point was well taken...it's not exactly something that I do very well when I'm in charge either.

I'm a total dork for a friend though...I put my arm around her and said, "Do you trust me?  and I started singin', "You've gotta friend in me..."  I've been busy with some of that this week...but I'd rather have her somewhat sane the day of the event...so it's well worth it to me!

My Sweet Boobahs finished off their antibiotics this week...and are feeling much better.  Right back to their ornery, rotten selves.  Trust me.  I'm glad they are feeling better but PHEW...wowsers...MomE's tired!!  And, sadly...MomE hasn't been exactly her most patient this week either.  I mentioned the clucking and er, squawking

Oh, and Loverbrains and I decided we'd commit to an exercise plan and start THIS WEEK.  He read an article on the chemistry of weight loss...or something weird like that.  It was something in his AIChe magazine, I think.  It sounded like Greek to me.  I enjoyed teasing him about it.  So, we are running M, W, F and doing weights/pilates the other days...except Sunday's which are rest.  Woohoo, bring on the naptime!

I felt ridiculously sore the first few days...but today I ran the whole mile and I feel fine...well, other than my lungs burning cuz it's 34 outside.  Yes, you CAN run in the fall/winter.  Why are we?  Well, duh...it's CHEAP!  No treadmill or gym necessary.  It's one of those perks of living in a very nice neighborhood.  I only wish we could run together.  Where IS my nanny?  LOL!!

So, as I eluded to in the beginning of this randomly caffeinated post...I'm not planning to get much done today.  I'm taking the kids on a leaf walk...and then I'm going to paraffin wax dip leaves with the kids.  Then, we'll probably do some leaf rubbings.  Who knows what else.  NO, I'm not raking yet.  I'll wait til the trees are a bit emptier, thanks!

What else shall I do on this SLOWED down day?  Finish a book?  Oh, I got bunches of slowcooker books out of the library yesterday too.  Sounds enticing to me!

Hope your Friday is slow and lovely!  Hugs!

Word FILLED Wednesday: Keep Calm...

I have really loved the whole KEEP CALM sign craze.  There's "Keep Calm and Drink Coffee"  and "Keep Calm and Just Pray"  and "Keep Calm and Carry On" but as always...God really says it best!

As I was studying this week...I knew I just had to try making this verse fit into that kind of graphic.  Pretty neat!  Now, if I just knew how to make it into a t-shirt or mug...I'd be in business!  HA!

In case you are wondering about context here...these are words from God, through Isaiah...to bad King Ahaz.  God was reminding AGAIN...that He is a God who keeps His promises.  Judah's enemies were saying they were going to destroy them for their refusal to ally against Assyria.  They threatened to kill Ahaz and put a "puppet king" on the throne.  NOW, if Ahaz had feared God and trusted in HIM...he would have KNOWN that God made a promise that David's line would NEVER, EVER go out!  "Does not the Scripture say that the Christ will come from David's family and from Bethlehem, the town where David lived?" John 7:42  But, Ahaz...he was wicked...and made a secret alliance with Assyria.

End result...they had to be punished for their "trying of God's patience"(Is.7:13)....God sent a sign IMMANUEL...to remind them (God with us) as they went through destruction and captivity...that HE was God and HE was to feared...and that HE would always keep promises.

JESUS is the fulfillment of that promise.  Praise God, we were grafted into that salvation!  I'm so glad my God is a the ONLY ALMIGHTY GOD ...and He keeps His promises!

Sidenote:  This super challenges me to be a consistent parent.  Very often, even after I have warned my children, they choose to deliberately defy me.  I must discipline them...and teach them to obey.  I must keep my promises...in punishment, in reward.  I must be faithful!
