Five Minute Friday: GRIT to Grace

GRIT...
I'm a rules loving kind of girl.  And yet, I find that I'm all bound up in rules I can't possibly keep...falling flat on my face in utter frustration.  I'm holding on by the sheer GRIT of my will...and sadly, I'm pretty strong willed.

After a recent flattening kind of day...I realized with a chuckle, that I can extend grace to all sorts of people in my life...allowing them to be human.  But, I can't extend it to myself...or accept it from God.  I will tell you that I'm saved by GRACE...and I believe that is true...but...well, I spend a lot of my time just trying SO VERY HARD!!

As I ran my miles today...a new song on my list made me cry.  For those of you who have tried crying while you run...it ain't pretty folks.

"Let me know that You hear me...
Let me know Your touch...
Let me know that You love me...
Let that be enough."

So, I'm going to proceed today...changing true GRIT to true GRACE!  He is more than enough for me!
Oh, Lord, Help me live like it!

Very encouraging. I am afraid I have been a bit discouraged and your post reminds me to focus on grace!

Bobbi...again I am amazed...I totally relate to what you said about rules and extending grace. It has taken me years and years to start to understand God's love for me no matter how bad I am. John 15:9 became real to me...God loves me with the same love that He has for His Son! the same love He has for Jesus??? and then He tells me to abide in that love...remain, stay there...believe it and act like I believe it. WOW! what grace is that?

Hope you had some tissue in your pocket.

I am being deeply touched by the book "Grace for the Good Girl", for those of us that try so hard. Have you read it?

Fondly,
Glenda

As a runner myself, I love the picture and quote you chose. Yes, sometimes it so difficult to accept God's grace for ourselves. And that we can stop striving and simply rest.
