Frugal Friday--Re-purposed Wooden Spools...

I save ribbons...and hence, I have a large webbed nest of them taking over my craft area. I also have several adorable little wooden spools. Poof, an epiphany...

Now, they are all neatly on cute wooden spools. This is nice for little bits...the long bits...well, it just over flows and doesn't look right.

Powerful Blogging Prayer...

I like to think that blogging is way... way... WAY more than just a way to share with family and friends about my little everyday happenings...Just as with any relationships...the more you get to know people on blogs, read about them, write to them, etc....the more you feel connected...and when they struggle you PRAY for them...just as if you had physically met them!

There is a serious situation happening with MckMama at My Charming Kids....You can see Stellan (aka. MckMuffin) in my sidebar and you can click on the picture to be taken to her site where you can read all about Stellan's struggling little heart...

PRAYER IS POWERFUL...even via blog!

If you have time to read this story...this is real life people...see if God would have you stop and pray for this family! I'm praying for Stellan..for his family...for his doctors...

Memory Monday...Ephesians 6:10-17...

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm on the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Stand firm therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace, in addition to these, put on the shield of faith so that you will be able to stand against the firey arrows of the evil one. And put on the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Checking from Biblegateway.com:

10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.
11Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.
12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
13Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.
14Stand firm therefore, HAVING GIRDED YOUR LOINS WITH TRUTH, and HAVING PUT ON THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS,
15and having shod YOUR FEET WITH THE PREPARATION OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE;
16in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
17And take THE HELMET OF SALVATION, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Okay, as you can see I need to clean things up a bit...and I'll add 18 to complete this selection next week! Happy Monday ya'll!

Frugal Friday- Tissue Holder...cute!

I've been ogling some cute little tissue holders. My allergies have been bothering me...and I'm shrinking away from the price of the travel tissue packs. Carrying in ziplock just isn't that cute. Walmart had similar fabric tissue holders for about $12...but after finding this nifty tute...I made up one for myself using fabric scraps and about 12 minutes! Wah hoo!

SEE...much cuter than ziplock!

I was curious how they were folded to come out like they do...and for those interested...they are simply folded into quarters individually and stacked atop each other. Eazy-peezy!

My MomE bracelet...

I've made several of these bracelets for my mother, mother-in-law, friends...but not for myself. Guess, I was waiting 'til I was done...

They are super easy...made of bracelet memory wire...beads, spacers, and letters. I just twist my ends to hold the first and last bead. Easy, peezy!

I may re-do it though...'cuz it's almost too short. It may have to do with only having two kids...and having one baggie of these colored beads! We'll see how it works out.

Memory Monday--Ephesians 6:10-15

"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Therefore, take up (I had put on) the full armor of God so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Stand firm, therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace,"

Next week I add the rest! I'm glad I'm taking this slower and really doing well on the shorter pieces. Sometimes, I think I bite off more than I can chew! It is equally important to CHEW it! AMEN!!?

Frugal Fridays--Sugar Scrub...ooooo!

I thought this sounded gross when I heard about it at my MTO (Mom's Time Out) meeting. It just goes to show that you shouldn't knock it 'til you've tried it! This is waaayyy cheaper than expensive body butters and sugar scrubs...even generics...

A single batch is half a cup brown sugar (reg. sugar or salt work too), quarter cup olive oil (veggie oil works too) and anything for scent (about a teaspoon). I've used vanilla and almond extract. I've heard you can use mint, coffee, and essential oils.

This is perfect for winter itchy skin! You don't even need lotion when you get out of the shower! It's wonderful....ooooooo..maybe even luxurious!

I discovered that one batch fits perfectly into a larger Gerber baby food jar. It makes a good gift too!

Memory Monday...Ephesians 6:10-13

Ephesians 6:10-13, "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full (oops had whole) armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places."
Next week, three more verses added on....14-16.

Surprise!

My kitchen is now Applesauce Cake brown! I love it! It is rich and warm...and still yellow toned enough to be bright and compliment the oak cabinets.

Notice my funky nook...and short cabinet. I can't remember what the previous owner had there...but Darren is going to build me this cute cake shelf...and then I'm saving my pennies for a big, red stainless trashcan!
For those who can't remember the before...with the funky border and yellow walls...here ya go!

The painter's tape took off that nasty fake wood (cheap stuff) and it looked nasty. I was super pleased with the results of using a wood stain marker...check it out!

Checking in for February...

This month I read Genesis, Colossians, Isaiah, Obadiah, Jonah, Matthew, and Amos. Some of these a huge...and I learned and noticed ALOT but this blog would be super duper long if I shared everything...so briefly I shall attempt to share something neat I learned or enjoyed in each book...

Genesis- I write in my Bible...and noticed I had our anniversary date next to Gen. 2:18...cuz that was the verse in our wedding invitations...It said something like, God said, "It is not good for man to be alone, I will make a helper suitable for him...Therefore, by the grace of God...Darren ....and Roberta will be joining together...etc." Neat!
Having so-so mental math skills I added up the ages of people in chapter 5..sort of fun!
Sort of forgot that Abraham had Keturah for a wife in chapter 25...huh....
Colossians-Recently heard a good message about Epaphras...being zealous for the Lord.
I just love chapter 3-4...I would have to write it all out to tell you which parts are the most interesting, convicting, etc. WOW.
Isaiah-I called my Dad up to say thank you...for raising me well...hearing God's Word. I didn't know it but I have Isaiah 53 memorized. My Dad read the whole thing almost every communion service that I can remember...and I DO remember it...I have it in my brain. How neat is that!!??? Didn't even know that's what it was...ugh..but now I do!
Had a good time in chapter 51--noticing the key phrases...Listen, Look, Pay attention, Life up your eyes, Listen to Me!
Again this book is long and just FULL of great things!
Obadiah-Very convicting about pride...God opposes the proud 1:2. Pride is self deceptive..1:3. Pride disdains others...1:11.
Jonah- He really frustrates me in that he is nothing like the God he preaches. 1:4-The calls and commands of God are irrevocable. 1:10-Your sin doesn't only affect you. Neat cross reference to Mt. 12:38--with Jonah 1:17!! Praise God...He can change our perspective and help us see through crisis just like he did with Jonah in chapter 2 with a little forced repentance! God is gracious and compassionate!
Amos- We had a morning and evening sermon on this recently so I read it all that afternoon...Interesting to see the BECAUSE of chapters 1 and 2.
Matthew- Probably the most fun book of February for me! I don't have a cross reference in my Bible so I hauled out my huge study Bible and looked up all the capped words (indicating OT reference) WOW...there are a lot of them and they are so neat. Do this if you have the time for a study! It is so interesting...and as my Dad pointed out to me...Matthew was talking to the Jews...so they woulda shoulda been familiar with all those quotes!

I'm already starting on March...and would have checked in last week but we were getting over a horrible time of sickness! UGH! I started reading Job and Ephesians....

Hope this is an encouragement to ya'll to keep working on your Bible reading too! Thanks for the accountability!

Memory Monday...Finally...Isaiah 41:9-10

Isaiah 41:9-10
"You whom I have taken from the ends of the earth,
And called from its remotest parts
And said to you,
"You are My servant,
I have chosen you and not rejected you,
Do not fear, for I am with you;
Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God, (switched these two lines...00ps)
I will strengthen you,
surely I will help you,
Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand."
I know they are split up funny...but that's how I memorized them...and I was NOT going to take another week! Thanks to all who prayed for me (and my family) to heal up from the various viruses and bacteria! Praise the Lord we are all almost 100%!
