Memory Monday....S M I L E !

Proverbs 15:13, "A joyful heart makes a cheerful face, But when the heart is sad, the spirit is broken."
This makes me think of a saying I saw on someone's blog a long time ago...
IF YOU'RE IN CHRIST SOMEONE SHOULD INFORM YOUR FACE!
I've felt very convicted in this area lately...especially after reading my Dad's blog "R U Grumpy?"....here!

Caffeinated Randomness...Drugged and Dazed...

This one outta be good, pigeons, cuz I'm flying high on the wings of Sudafed and Tylenol...woohoo. And...I'm about to collapse into a drug induced naptime while my sick little buggers nap...hopefully! But, why would I miss a chance to be totally random...

First, the thought did occur to me that Andrea shared her cold/flu from a few weeks ago via the blogosphere...and well, that's just not very nice! Sniff...snork! Ugh!

Next, I randomly found myself mixing up a new batch of playdoh for the kids this morning...cuz I'm nuts. I'm fevered and hurting...and about halfway through..ya know, when the stirring gets difficult...I was sweating and groaning..".WHY am I doing this?" Thankfully, I lived and they now have beautiful rose/black raspberry colored playdoh. On the plus side...they played happily with their old goobery old playdoh at the table while I mixed the new stuff.

Lastly, why does poetry and scripture, songs and great ideas float around my head when I'm sick like this? I find myself thinking I better write some of this genius down. I think I'm probably a better MomE in some ways when I'm sick. I relax and become for flexible. I allow all creativity to flourish and blossom. The house explodes into couch cushion forts and tea parties and "twinkle twinkle" concerts!

And if that's not random...nothing is...good afternoon...zzzzz!

Cold or allergy?

Sick House
Sniffles Sneezes
Snuggling Whining Aching
Mama has disdain for germs...but a lot of good it'll do her
Tired House

Here's a cinquain poem for your enjoyment. Why is the type so large? Well, my ears are plugged so I'm talking loudly so you can hear me!!

Give Me Five!!

My dear bloggy friend Kayren over where Everything's Coming Up Daisies (just not always at her pace)...sent me five 'specially selected for me words. She was gifted five words from a non Ignorant Historian...and then passed on the idea herself.

Okay, so here's how this works: she got five words from someone, she blogged on each of the five words, offered to provide five words to anyone who wanted them, I took her up on the offer, I received my five words, and now I will blog about them. Get it?

You'll be able to tell they were thought up especially for me though. If you're not too scared by all of this craziness, I'll gift you five words specifically for you. Just ask.

1. Coffee- this would be how I open my eyes in the morning. It wasn't always this way...but with wheezy babes who wake in the night...or very very early in the morning...this is my life. I think I like the smell of it better than the taste...and often only drink half a cup before reheating it...again and again.
I make my poor sweet husband drink it with me...even though he doesn't really like it...cuz he needs the caffeine and it's more loving than taking a no doze. I joke that it was in our vows. My Dad, who did our ceremony, says he has a copy and he's sure it's not. Too bad, so sad...you still have to drink coffee with me in the morning. It's social!

2. Frugal- I'm picky about what this means. I participate in Frugal Friday blogging....and often re-define it for everyone. To me it means something characterized by or reflecting economy in the use of resources. (Merriam-Webster Dictionary). It's about a simpler, less complicated lifestyle, not about being cheap. While those who put a frugal lifestyle into practice do tend to be thrifty, there is a method to their madness. (families.com) Now that I've gotten that out of my system...and ya'll know what it means....I love love love finding ways to be frugal. It's fun...and rewarding!!

3. Teacher- I was professionally a teacher BC (Before Children)...teaching third grade and special education. I loved it...and miss it!! I realize that I am also my children's teacher. I found a really nifty quote the other day.."The mother's heart is the child's schoolroom." H.W.Beecher. This time of year is hard on me...I tend to buy school supplies and get sad when the school bus leaves without me. I'm a born learner...and I feel you can't be a good teacher...without a love of learning!

4. Faith- I love Michael Card's song "That's What Faith Must Be"....To hear with my heart, to see with my soul. To be guided by a hand I cannot hold. To trust in a way that I cannot see. That's what faith must be. I find my salvation by grace...through faith...not of myself...totally of Christ! He sustains and upholds me.

5. Kayren- has probably become one of my dearest bloggy friends. I'm insistent that she be my first bloggy friend...to know in REAL LIFE...hahaha! She is a real person, a real mom, a real wife...and that's saying alot in the blogosphere. She shares quite openly on her blog...and is very genuine...makes me smile. We have wacky...freaky things in common...like our love of Americana, snowmen and daisies. And we are organization lovers too!

Thanks Kayren for this fun High Five!!

Finding Joy in the Journey...

God uses music time and time again to speak to me...to comfort me...Maybe you're like me...and this song will help remind you to find joy in the journey today...

There is a joy in the journey
There's a light we can love on the way
There is a wonder and wildness to life
And freedom for those who obey

And all those who seek it shall find it
A pardon for all who believe
Hope for the hopeless and sight for the blind

To all who've been born in the Spirit
And who share incarnation with Him
Who belong to eternity stranded in time
And weary of struggling with sin

Forget not the hope that's before you
And never stop counting the cost
Remember the hopelessness when you were lost

There is a joy in the journey
There's a light we can love on the way
There is a wonder and wildness to life
And freedom for those who obey

And freedom for those who obey...

Five Caffeinatedly Random Sayings

I've decided to use Moms Heaven Help Us as my Caffeinated Randomness today. It's a twofer!!

5 Bobbi Sayings

Gorgeous (GO-JEE-USS)- I say this to my kids when they are pretending or dressing up...What's really funny is they've started to say it to each other...and it sounds just the way I say it....hehehehee! "Oh, Cawub...you's so go jee uss!"

Goodness Gracious-often has a "sakes alive"...usually when I'm being silly about fake surprise. You know, sarcasm! I would never be sarcastic though...*snort...hehe*

Bugger balls- this one I'm working on not saying...okay, while working on this post I realized that even in our NONE cussing home...there are some things that need to be cleaned up around the edges. Er, ugh! These things are not fun to hear on the lips of your children. *cringe*

X irritates the "Liver and Snot" out of me- I say this alot...I have no idea where it comes from...I think it's one of my convoluted sayings that combines two, really. An example of its use... Caller ID irritates the liver and snot out of me. Either plan to answer your phone, or don't!

TAGID (TAH-GEED)--"This Ain't Getting It Done"-- This is my Uncle CJ invention, I think. This I say when I've been sitting down too long. I get up, groan and say, "Well, TAGID...better get the kitchen cleaned up and the dishwasher started.

Glory

One day eyes that are blind will see you clearly
And one day all who deny will finally believe
One day hearts made of stone will break in pieces
And one day chains once unbroken will fall down at your feet
So we wait for that one day come quickly

Chorus
We want to see your Glory
Every knee falls down before thee
Every tongue offers you praise
With every hand raised
Singing Glory
To you and unto you only
We'll sing Glory to Your name

One day voices that lie will all be silent
One day all that's divided will be whole again
One day death will retreat and wave it's white flag
One day love will defeat the strongest enemy
So we wait for that one day come quickly

Chorus

We know not the day or the hour
Or the moments in between
But we know the end of the story
When we'll see

Chorus

Have some tea...and Monday Memory...

Here's it goes....
Colossians 3:12-14,
So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as our Lord forgave you, so also should you. Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity.

WOW...can you believe it?...I only messed up one word. I surprised even myself. I'm going to add verse 15 for next week. I'm so glad I decided to get back into Memory Mondays...I've missed it...and I need it!

Colossians 3:12-14,
So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you. Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity.

Caffeinated Randomness--Always, Sometimes, Nevah, evah!

I ALWAYS...

- drink coffee on Sunday afternoons with my loverbrains.

- find the blogs I write on the spur of the moment are better than the ones written before...

- call my Mom for cooking advice...even though my Dad's a good cook too!

- try to turn the cartoons off at 8...and play with my kids.

I SOMETIMES...

- finish my cup of coffee...

- take a nap with my kids, if I'm really tired.

- ignore the phone if it is bothering me. I figure if it's important they'll call back.

- become quiet and introspective about life.

- wish I was teaching again...not just little toddlers at home.

I NEVAH EVAH...

- wait until the next month to flip the calendar.

- get my hair cut on time...whatever they say...three weeks...humph...try 6!

- leave my kids in the car alone. Too many horror stories people!

- refuse a date night...

Grandpa force fed popcorn!

Isn't this a darling picture of my little people eating popcorn with Grandpa!? My sweet son loves popcorn...it's one the allergy boy's safe snacks. What you don't see is the force feeding session that began shortly after this picture was taken when they decided it was fun to feed popcorn to Grandpa. This quickly became a competition of sorts...shoving pieces in at warp speed. The truly funny thing is that I don't think Grandpa likes popcorn...he never eats it during movies with Grandma? Hmmmm?
I wish I'd done a better job of taking this picture. If you look closely you can see that my sweet daughter has white gloves on (real, antique elbow gloves) and is holding her new Angelina doll...while her brother holds her new Alice doll. They love to read with Grandpa!

I HEART CAMPFIRES!

I love campfires! Even though these days we have them while it's still daylight so that the kids are awake to enjoy them too! Oh well, whatcha gonna do else?
Big bucket of water handy...and the hose is behind me! No worries...my Dad is very safe! Not to mention the fact that people jumped about a six feet in the air any time the kiddos got remotely close to the flames.
Whoops...thought I flipped this pic...oh well, I'm not redoing all this...so turn your head! Emma lovin' on Grandpa Denny! Awww!
Enjoying the fire...no one wanted marshmallows...humph!

I told Loverbrains to take some pictures of me...so I could actually be on my blog. So, he videos me in a squat....lovely! I know, I know...I say on here that it'll never make the blog...but the splashin' little man was so stinkin' cute...I just had to give in and post it!

The pretty strap off an old vintage bath cover up I converted to a skirt.....PLUS an antique handkerchief...PLUS a washed salsa jar....EQUALS....
The perfect little outfit for my fresh cucumber pickles...
This, and some fresh bread, was my "don't come empty handed" gift to a sweet couple who had our family over for dinner the other night!

1/4 minced onion
1 finely minced garlic clove
Liberally salt and pepper
Fill jar 2/3 full of apple cider vinegar
Fill jar the rest of way with water.
I salt the top and close it tightly!

Ooooo...see this Purple Passion Plant...I got a few clippings from my a friend and hers is huge...
....so I'm hopeful Minerva will like it here! That's what I decided to call her! Purple Minerva is fitting for such a freakishly gorgeous specimen!

Word FILLED Wednesday..."Faithful Steps"

This is a picture of my son and his Great Grandmother walking together. I was saving it for a WFW...just looking for a good verse to go with it! She and my Grandfather have been very faithful servants of the Lord...and He has indeed fulfilled this verse in their lives!
