Sorry for the gap in blogging again...I've had so much in my brain and not enough time or inclination to write it all down.  And...that's probably a good thing.  But, here's to me blog blogging along again...

the 36th avenue

After an interesting and convicting Sunday sermon...I'm going to put more parameters on social media.  It's not the time wasted I found most convicting...it's the validation seeking...the voyeurism...that cut me to the quick and made my heart bleed.  Interestingly, blogging has been a pretty positive media tool...probably because I have few followers...hahaha...and because I'm pretty careful about what I share and don't share.  I didn't say I'm going to stop media entirely...just put some boundaries on it so it's not taking the place that God should have, is not making me a man (or woman) pleaser, and is simply a tool, not a controller.  I think such things should probably be re-evaluated and Spring cleaned periodically.

PERManent hair changes?

I'm testing out my new iPad mini...and the blogger app...to see if I can blog this way...rather than online or remotely.  I'm choosing this subject because I have pictures of my hair on here...I think...that I want to try to upload.  So really, the subject line should read...testing, 1,2,3...

I love weird data, so I give you...America, Why are you naming  all your boys like this?...

You can actually vote on the Smithsonian photography contest finalists.  Cool!  Some really amazing photos!!  Timing is really key to some of these shots.  One of my favorites is the guy being bucked off the Bronco!

My husband thinks I'm an incredibly fast reader...I think this article by Washington Post, hits closer to the truth.  I'm an excellent skimmer...but am I missing out?

If I ever finish all the baby quilts I'm working on...sigh...and get time to sew something fun for myself...I'm going to make one of these.  I especially like the button for holding the bag!  Of course, I've recently been introduced to Teavana.  Sigh...amazing loose leaf teas!!

Loom bands...now with the ability to become almost anything...awesomeness!  I'm making these at Christmastime!!  Nativity loom banding...yes!

Spontaneous Supportive Wifedom

Loverbrains had a surprise stressful crazy nutsy business trip end up right on Spring Break.  So, in an effort to be an excellent wife, I packed us up and we tagged along. 

It was *cold*...so we spent a lot of time in the pool and hot tub.  It was empty except for us!  Hopefully, DadE ended up feeling loved upon the end of each exhausting day...and that he had fulfilled Spring break dreams and not created disappointments. 

We met up with some work friends' family in the area for playtime...ate out a lot (a real treat for us)...slept on fresh sheets each night (yes, this is a thrill for MomE!)...watched lots of cartoons...charmed the hotel staff with hand drawn thank yous...

I have to say that the Holland, Michigan area is one of the most family friendly areas I have ever visited. Just wish it had been warm enough to brave the beach...but alas, it still has ice on most of it. 

And in the spirit of supportive wifedom I also drove ALOT more than usual!  I love my husband.

Monday Musings...

Spring is coming...see my mini irises peeking up?! Yay!!

Humbling---via Barbara's Stray Thoughts---  Next Avenue's "8 Things Not to Say to Your Aging Parents"--  This makes me wince...to think of how I speak to my grandparents and parents sometimes.  My impatience...sigh...my pride...is so, so ugly.  I resolve to do better.  Oh Lord, please put a guard on my lips!

The Gospel Coalition had Greg Forster's great article about the Frozen movie...The Cold that Bothers Us!  Very interesting! ---I'd rather watch this stuff with my kids and be their spiritual filter than forbid it...Teach them to discern....by being discerning yourself.

It's all about Perspective!  WOW...this is so neat!!  I have a very colorful favorite!!!  Check out the Netherland Tulip Fields...among many others.  What a marvelous Creator!!

New City Catechism with John Piper ROCKS!  We are loving it...check it out.  We are using the short version because our kids are young.
