Love is not selfish...

We made a trip to meet up with some of Loverbrain's college buddies.  It's sort of become an annual event.  The location is prime...and we always have a good time...but it's a LONG drive.  We always talk about spending the night...but are blessed to be so involved in our church that it never works out.  So, it's a long day...and there is part of me that dreads it...AND it almost always falls on my birthday weekend.  10-10-10 this year.  Woohoo!

But love is not selfish.  And, I'm so glad.  It is rewarding to love my husband the right way.  It was wonderful to see him so happy...talking with his good friends.  He's a busy man and really doesn't have these "bosom" friends at home.  As much as I attempt to understand about his work...I will never get it in the "original language" of a chemical engineer.  No matter how hard I try.

Yes, there was some stress involved in the packing and planning and traveling...but it was worth it.  What's something you could do to love your husband in a totally unselfish way today?

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. 1 Cor. 13:4-8 ESV

A belated happy birthday to you!

I was thinking this weekend that one way I could show love to my husband is by going with him on the everyday errands I don't really like or need to accompany him for. When the kids were little we had to "divide and conquer" to get things done. But as they've gotten older and could be left at home, I tended to stay at home whenever my husband asked me if I wanted to go with him to the hardware store or wherever because I had other things I'd rather do. But he likes company (whereas I like a lot of alone time...). We went out with my son and daughter-in-law to the mall this weekend so my husband could get some things for a trip, then we walked around and explored and ate lunch. It was a fun time, even though walking around a mall is not my favorite thing to do, and I thought, I really should do this more.

A chemical engineer eh? Just like my Dad. Yes... they're the smart ones... and oh so dependable. You picked a good one!

Happy Birthday, Bobbi!
