Word FILLED Wednesday: Dynamic Discipline!

Discipline- wisdom and teaching that correct errant behavior.  A right response to God's discipline is repentance.  I want to share the three "P's" of spiritual discipline.

Discipline shows...

PROOF of relationship-
"My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline and do not resent his rebuke, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in."  Proverbs 3:11-12

PURPOSE-
"Our fathers disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in his holiness."  Hebrews 12:10

PROMISE-
"Discipline your son, and he will give you peace; he will bring delight to your soul."  Prov. 29:17
"Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest, and repent."  Rev. 3:19

If you are currently experiencing the Refiner's fire...I hope this encourages you to remember...God's loving discipline shows you are His child, He desires a restored relationship with you, and He is faithful to all His promises!

PS..I am well aware that not every lifetime trial is spiritual discipline for sin...(aka Job.)  If you are unsure..just pray...and ask God...and He will point out what he wants changed and learned!

Bobbi, I popped over here this morning because I realized I had not thanked you for your wonderful tip you left on my blog last week. I LOVE THAT IDEA! I have not put our basket together yet but I am going to do so. Such good thinking - thanks for sharing it with me!

However, I just have to laugh with God sometimes. Guess what scripture I read this morning? You guessed it - Hebrews 12. And I have spent the last week in the refiner's fire. Love how God works through us.

Hope your day is blessed, sweet Bobbi. I love your words and your holy ministry. You are a gem.

This is wonderful Bobbi. I know you wrote it about God's discipline, but while reading it I could hear the reasons we discipline our children and it isn't about conforming them to our will, but to His will.

I remember the relief and joy I felt when I learned that God LOVED me, and His proof was in His discipline . . . that He cared enough not to let me get away with my stupid, selfish, sinfulness. He is my Father.

I have a neighbor who says often that "God looks after the stupid..." often by disciplining us...It's just further proof that we are SO loved...

This was fantastic!

peace girl!
