Caffeinated Randomness: Ice Hockey, Nightmares and Prayer...oh my!

Cappuccino by Awa Awa

Whoa, am I truly caffeinated this morning (the random could really go without saying)...One of our dear friends from church (adorable newlyweds) got a coffee roaster for Christmas.  In an attempt to bribe me into make little burlap bags for the green beans...I keep getting fresh roasted beans. Oh...WOW...yeah, they are that much better!!!   The downside (upside?) is that nothing is left in the pot and I've about doubled my caffeine intake for the day.  BUT...the med that's keeping my migraines away (PTL!!!) does make me feel really tired...so some more caffeinated pickups were in order.  Right?

Tonight, Loverbrains and I are going to an ice hockey game.  I haven't been to one since high school...but they sure are fun.  We're going on a double date...which is also fun!  My Sweetest Boobahs are just excited about the babysitter and the games/popcorn.  BIG thrills around here.  They are going to teach her Hungry Hippos and Don't Break The Ice.  If you don't have toddlers...I apologize...but go buy the games!!  I've played them about 100 times...and they are STILL fun!!  How many things can you say that about?

In case anyone noticed...the kids do NOT get a movie tonight.  Why?  Cuz, we have cut evening TV out...no, not because I'm such a good, pious MomE...nope, because my little people are waking with bad dreams almost every night.  If I don't start getting complete sleep cycles soon...grrrrrr....it ain't gonna be good!  I wish I was more sweetness and understanding at night...but I'm really not.  I tuck them (usually her) back in and sing, "When I am afraid I will trust in You..." and tell them to look at their night lights and "go to sleep...PUH-LEAZE!"  Our Pediatrician said to cut out screen stimulation 2-3 hours before bedtime.  So, there ya have it.

Random flip now...I wrote about prayer yesterday...not an exhaustive post by any means.  I don't like to get people swamped down...but there was another thing I wanted to say.  It is the best possible use of your time.  Think about it...Prayer is placing our needs into God's hands for His ALL-POWERFUL answer.  What could accomplish more than that?  It expresses my trust in Him...for that day...for that moment.

How is He calling you to pray?  Have you put that discipline in place?  Cuz, it is a discipline ya'll.  Discipline:  Noun...activity, exercise, or a regimen that develops or improves a skill; training.  I think it just really struck me lately with Joanne...that trusting God turns the deepest crisis into the highest praise.  Generally, that discipline was in place before.  I'm praying for God's grace in that process in my heart and life!

Love to you all!!  Have a wonderfully caffeinated (or de-caffeinated) weekend!!

Sounds like you have a great deal. Wish I could know someone with a roaster.....My hubby and I don't get to go out too often, but it is nice when you find that babysitter that you can trust with your kids. I'm so glad that you're back. You were truly missed.

My son has his own coffee grinder but not a roaster. I love the smell -- so sad I can't have caffeine any more!

Sounds like everyone has a fun night planned!

I feel like God has really been pressing into me the importance of prayer -- 5 seconds long or 5 hours long (like the last one is really a possibility, but still). I been thinking about how powerful it is and how it really fills me -- to pray for our family, myself, my friends, or even random people that pass me in the grocery store.

Bobbi, have a ball tonight? Is it the Ice? Do they even still play in Indy?

Prayer...I do it on and off throughout the day. I would say I''m in a constant, often-interrupted conversation with God all day long. 'Tis the season but you know what? I kind of like it this way - to know I can talk to Him all day long? Love it.

Have so much fun tonight! OH - coffee date - YES! Let's talk calendars - are Saturday mornings or Sunday afternoons good for you? Also, would you be interested in guest posting at MOF? No worries if not but would love for you to do so!

A coffee ROASTER? Now that is something e-Dad would LOVE! (He's the brew-master in our house.) So where does one buy fresh green unroasted beans? Inquiring minds want to know...

We used to buy beans at Costco and grind them ourselves, but lately we've been taking the easy route and buying ground coffee. A mistake! When we were in NYC over Christmas, we had the best Italian food, and Italian roast coffee with dessert. I've converted from French roast.

Enough about coffee. Your discussion on prayer is true. It's a discipline for those who aren't natural interceders.

I love your affectionate names for your husband and kids, so CUTE!!!

I love hockey games! Were there any fights? I love the fights and heavy metal 80's music they play. My kids are going to a hockey game tonight. Our team is called the Spokane Chiefs. Hope you had fun.

Roasted coffee sounds wonderful! Just thinking about all that caffeine makes me hyper!!

I also wanted to invite you to join in on Thursdays for my "Mama's Heart" link up. It's where we mommy's can share whatever's on our hearts. Would love to have you!

Hope you have a great weekend!
