Hello Hodgepodge!!

1. Every January 1st since 1976 Lake Superior University has published a list of words they'd like to see banished from the Queen's English.  Words may be banished due to misuse, overuse or just general uselessness (go here to read more about how the words were chosen).  Here are the words/phrases they'd like to see banished in 2014-
selfie, twerk/twerking, hashtag, Twittersphere, Mr. Mom, T-bone, ____on steroids, the suffixes-ageddon, and -pocalypse added to anything and everything, from the world of politics the words-intellectually/morally bankrupt and Obamacare, and from the world of sports the words-adversity and fan base
Which of these words/phrases would you most like to see banished from everyday speech and why? Is there a word not on the list you'd like to add?
I know that I tend to say...actually....a lot.  I should actually probably work on that...cutting it out, replacing it with other words.  I don't like selfies...might as well say 'multiple narcissistic pictures of ME'!  Ugh...twerking...really...that's even a question?
2. What one unfinished project nags at you begging to be completed in this new year?
I'm painting for the first time in 8 years...since we moved into this house.  I've done two coats Pecanwood on the kitchen, two coats Pecanwood on the upstairs foyer, one coat No.2 Pencil on the stairwell...and now on to the half bath Pecanwood, living room and dining room in Brandied Pear.  Woot woot...I'm a lady on a mission.  And no, I'm not coming to help you...sorry.  I hope not to paint anytime soon after this crazeeness!
3. When did you last have a bowl of soup? What kind? Homemade or from a can? What's your favorite soup?
Due to Indiana's Polar Vortex I've been a soup making fool.  I made bean and ham soup from scratch with leftover frozen ham bone from Christmas.  I made Chicken in Road Soup (black bean and chicken soup).  And I made Chili!  My favorite soup...my Mom's Potato Soup.  I don't ever make it because of the non-dairy peoples in my home.  Hmmm...I suppose I could make it and freeze it in portions.
4. Snowed in, snowed under, snow job...which one most applies to your life in recent days, figuratively speaking.
Snowed in.  I think I haven't been out of my house for five days...that's a lot for us city dwellers.  And let's just say...this extrovert has had it.  Let me outta here!!!  If it wasn't for social media and txting I'd be CRAZZEEEier than normal!
5. What's the funniest movie you've ever seen, or at least one of the funniest?
The Princess Bride.
6.  In general, would you say you're clumsy?
No, I'm not usually.
7. Elvis Presley was born on Hodgepodge Day (January 8th) back in 1935.  Are you an Elvis fan?  What's your favorite Elvis tune? If that's too hard, which Elvis tune do you dislike the least?  Click here for a list of his songs.
Um no...not a fan.  Dislike most...any Christmas song that he's done.  AWful!
8. Insert your own random thought here.
Today I'm watching a friend's daughter (a friend of my daughter) because she had to return to work in this awful weather.  SO, I invited a neighbor buddy as a playmate for my son too.  I'm a bit nuts but I think I get good Mom and good friend points, right?  I'm praying for patience and lots of love.  Especially around lunchtime....the hardest part of any playdate!  I have minimal resources cuz I haven't been to the grocery in a while.

I made a wonderful (if I do say so myself-ha!) lentil soup with our leftover ham bone. Good luck with all your painting!

I hate painting, so I don't envy you that job! The great part about painting is the finished end result :) when everything looks so pretty and clean!

Aren't you nice, volunteering to have kiddos over, after being 'shut in' for five days?! Have fun.

This is definitely soup-making weather! Potato soup of any kind is my favorite.

LOVE The Princess Bride.

I love how everything looks with a fresh coat of paint, but it's a big job, especially doing so many rooms at once.

Hope you can get out in some sunshine soon!

With Christmas over I'm looking around my house thinking it needs a good painting. The living room area needs a professional & high ladders. But, if I get brave I may try some of the less "dangerous" spots. You have inspired me to do it!
