WIW: Cave Bacon and others...

In taking revenge, a man is but even with his enemy; but in passing it over, he is superior.
~ Sir Francis Bacon
This makes me think of Proverbs 17:9,"Whoever covers an offense seeks love, but he who repeats a matter separates close friends."  and Proverbs 19:11, "Good sense makes one slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook an offense."
"Better beans and bacon in peace, than ale and cakes in fear"  ~Aesop
And if that doesn't sound like Proverbs 17:1, I don't know what does..."Better is a dry morsel with quiet than a house full of feasting with strife."

That photo really does look like bacon.

And both of those quotes are remarkably close to Scripture. And therefore they're really good. :-D Funny how the first instinct when wronged is revenge, and the fact that I'm too reserved (or "chicken") to act on it doesn't mean the attitude still isn't wrong. But to truly pass over it takes God's grace, which I need to draw on in abundance.

The Bacon quote is so true: do we want to be even with the enemy or rise above? Too often I probably am satisfied just to stay even…

All this talk of bacon is making me hungry for some. ha.
